So they chopped the bed in half and made a custom canopy..?
![]() 03/01/2019 at 16:40 |

Nice a new Isuzu Amigo!

so its ranger based, nothing new there, but they actually followed through and made it short. ballsy. Let hope they have the courage to actually offer it as a 3 door OR 5 door. None of that half door nonsense from the FJC

“it’s so ugly hurr durr”
It's a mule, dipshits. It ain't supposed to be pretty, in fact it's meant to look as much unlike the actual vehicle as they can easily make it.

Honestly, I wouldn’t mind at all if they just said fuck it and brought over the Everest.
![]() 03/01/2019 at 16:46 |

You knew they would have an ugly mule out at some point as they do with every new car?
![]() 03/01/2019 at 16:46 |

I’d kill my spouse to get one of these! EVEN in mule form!
![]() 03/01/2019 at 16:47 |

Hey now! Half doors are cool!
![]() 03/01/2019 at 16:47 |

sorry friend. no
![]() 03/01/2019 at 16:49 |

It’s a prototype mule its supposed to be butt ugly . Most likely for power train development . Jeep JKs were used as production mules for the JL by using their powertrain and axles.

I’d kill my spouse and her lover.
![]() 03/01/2019 at 16:50 |

But, but....... Veloster half door on one side?
![]() 03/01/2019 at 16:51 |
|
Its probably just a drivetrain/chassis mule with a ranger body for testing, remember Jeep tested JL components in JK bodies...

HEY I GOT A BONE TO PICK WITH YOU

Holy crap, look at the size of the oval emblem on the grill in that last pic.
On second thought, looks just like the current Ranger grill tucked in there. Nothing to see here...

I’d kill everyone, THEN write a book about it
![]() 03/01/2019 at 16:54 |

I like it. Will prob end up with more junk in the trunk to meet crash standards though.
Plus, looks like it will be IRS. Will be interesting to see how that works out.

U-G-L-Y, i t ain’t got no alibi it’s ugly

oh I know thats not the body, Im just looking at the wheelbase
![]() 03/01/2019 at 16:56 |

Good point. Knee-jerk reaction took over. I really hope they don't do a "chopped" rear passenger window like that though. Easily one of my least favorite design trends

dude that’s clearly the next gen hyundai excel
![]() 03/01/2019 at 17:10 |

Maybe that’s not it exactly, but I bet it’s bunk.
![]() 03/01/2019 at 17:23 |

It’s not even close to the only official image we've been shown. What easier way to make a mule than to simply chop the body from the shared platform?
![]() 03/01/2019 at 17:40 |
|
The rake of that windscreen is unforgivable.
![]() 03/01/2019 at 18:15 |
|
just look at that departure angle!
![]() 03/02/2019 at 01:58 |

Bronco? Is it so wrong that I'm wishing they would just sell this test mule exactly as shown here?
![]() 03/02/2019 at 05:33 |
|
Ha ha ha.... that's a single cab Ranger platform with the rear over hang lopped off. The rest of the mule is there for distraction.
![]() 03/02/2019 at 05:34 |

Hmmmm not short so much as a single cab ute with the rear overhang lopped off. The supercab body is there for the distraction.
![]() 03/02/2019 at 05:46 |

Yes. It’s a mule to test something like, power train or chassis components. It only has to be approximately the same size as the target vehicle.
![]() 03/02/2019 at 05:49 |
|
I’m laughing my ass off watching people lose their minds, thinking this is anything close to a production design.
Need I remind people what a mule is? It only has to be close enough in size and shape to accommodate whatever components or subsystem they want to test.

This is nothing. It got so heated in a Bronco Facebook group I was in that I got booted for making fun of people.

the lower the stakes, the more heated the argument.
